Showers of blessings to whoever visits my blog during this Festive season~!!
(changes snow effects to become showering "$"s )
xD
Moving on, for those who don't know yet.. Gabrylo would be leaving on the 24th of Feb.. yup, that's right.. the 24th.. which is a tuesday/working-day/school-day for most ppl.. so i'm not really expecting any grand send-off (Considering my flight plans were changed from the 21st- [a sat] to this date cuz my parents insisted on a cheaper flight ticket)
as a result of this as well, i'd be missing part of my orientation week in uni as well... talk about double bummer..
thinking of send offs.. it makes me reminisce the times i sent a friend off at the airport.. Must be quite a nice feeling, having friends you know and trust all gathered to see you off.. to offer emotional support for what would be a rather trying experience of flying alone..
not that i'm complaining.. my parents did do alot just by agreeing to send me overseas.. its just that there's this side of me that wants to sorta.. collect all these little life experiences?
well, no point thinking about it now.. to all those who offerred their condolenses for not being able to send me off.. Thanks =) your wishes were well received, and warmly appreciated!! hopefully, my flight back would be under better circumstances.. somewhere arnd dec i suppose =P
Let X be the number of people at an event.. Where X is a positive intergral, and X is >11 Labels: Lucky
There are 11 prizes to be won at the event.. and the X ppl have submitted a lucky draw coupon each to win the prizes..
each of the prizes are brought out one by one.. and subsequently, a lucky draw coupon is chosen at random (and not replaced) and the prize is given to the corresponding person at the event.
Thus, the possibility of getting the prize would be..
1 / X, for the 1st item brought out..
1/ (X-1) for the 2nd item..
1/ (X-2) for the 3rd item..
...
....
1/ (X-10) for the 11th item..
#######
Deshou?!
#######
Now, if we give X an arbitary value (i.e .. 20?) we can see that for the 1st item, we have the hardest possibility of 1 in 20 of getting it (5% chance).. the possibility increases with the subsequent items such as the 3rd, which has a 1 in 18 chance, down till the last item which has a 1 in 9 chance of winning (>11% chance)..
now, at the event.. they had consolation prizes such as a bottle of wine.. mid-tier prizes such as hard disks, or ipod nanos up for grabs.. and a laptop as their top prize..
Strangely, following the above example.. they put the top prize of a laptop as the 11th item.. making it the easiest(?) to win out of all the prizes available..
Now, that part has got me worried.. as i now wonder if i shld be happy about my luck.. i got the hardest to win prize out of that lucky draw.. The consolation prize.. a bottle of wine =X
DOTS LA!! COULDN'T YOU PUT THE LAPTOP WITH THE HARDEST POSSIBILITY OF GETTING?! OR AT LEAST PUT THE CONSOLATION PRIZE AFTER THE TOP PRIZE HAS BEEN GIVEN OUT?! (i might at least feel better about getting something instead of nothing in that last scenario)
T_T
don't mind me.. its just ranting of someone had to lugg some dead weight with with him after the event, while he was out shopping the rest of the day =P
And we talked the night away... =)
Its been a while since I've held a fruitful conversation on the phone.. let alone a conversation spanning more than 4 hours into the wee hours of morning..
That silly girl.. she didn't want to sleep even though there was only 3 hours before she had to wake up.. for some reason or another.. it seems most of my memories of her were similar to this.. the first night we chatted on the phone, i was terribly sleep deprived.. it was a chalet where she went back earlier cuz of curfew.. and woke up abt 4+ am and started talking to me (i hadn't slept a wink that night i think).. another incident was when i was in camp, and we talked till my hp batt died.. needless to say it was in the early morn =P there was even once we chatted, until a certain someone fell asleep on the phone!! xD that was definitely a first for me..
so yea, now i owe someone a ice cream treat.. and a cosplay hunt "date" abt sg... =T srsly.. girls these days.. *sigh*.. dunno what to say..
on a different (happier?) note.. I'd be getting my new phone this weekend? thnx to someone taking their own sweet time =T its over a month since camera phones are legal.. and barely a month left before i fly off to use it here.. on the bright side, i now have a camera to use while in aus to take pics.. on the down side.. the limited time part to take whatever pics i can of sg before i go..
I even have some backdated post waiting for a camera so i can finish posting them... =.= i guess that's what it means by the chi saying..
"Kao shan.. shan dao.. Kao ren.. ren pao.. zhui hao jiu shi kao zhi zi.."
*sigh*.. there's so many ppl i want to take a pic with for remembrance to take with me.. T_T
Its been January for a while already.. I guess its a little late to say.. Happy New Year?
Alot has happened the past few years.. alot has changed.. and i guess, some things still remained the same..
sadly, there's this little attitude of mine that's still kinda stuck with me.. the "living like i'm gonna live forever" kind of attitude =T
Was it because my youth was being wasted someplace, that I instinctively became this way? preserving the childish mentality that I have all my life and all the time in the world to do all the things i want to do? Starting the draft of a master plan in my mind, but unwilling to go any further than that.. =X i guess this is one of my biggest regrets i wish i noticed earlier.. if I had known.. perhaps I would have my own article published in my sec sch's news.. a bigger role for a performance which ppl actually paid to come to watch!..
meh.. so i got the 1st part right.. dreaming like you'd live forever.. just leaving that last part about living like everyday was your last..
well, no time for regrets at this point.. its time to look forward to a brighter future ya? Haha.. Sydney.. sometimes i wonder how i did it.. it really is meant for studies, but somehow i feel like i've landed myself a 5 year vacation overseas.. And its in Aus! one of the most beautiful places in my memory.. so as to not waste this chance.. I'm considering joining some adventure club once over there.. (if possible =P ) haha.. i get the feeling i'd meet someone i really wanna know from there..
failing which, well.. theater seems like another good way to meet ppl =)
And so, the usual stuff that comes with every January.. Gabrylo's New Year Resolutions for 2009!!
Take active steps to keep in contact with old friends, as well as make friends with new ones =)
Lose weight/maintain weight.. (like any other year =X )
Be more active instead of being shut-in at home..
Not to dwell in the past and regret every silly thing.. i'm alr 20.. or rather, i'm only 20 and there's alot of silly mistakes to make before i'm done. =)
wow.. only these few? i could have sworn there were more this year.. haha..
to end off, I'd like to write a wish for the coming year.. just like what they do on those shrine trips on new year's day in our favourite animes/dramas =P
my new year's wish?
...
"For something good to happen" =)
It happened as a stroke of inspiration.. while watching a retarded episode Yarong sent me online of this "cooking" show.. called "Gaki no Tsukai".. where there were a number of chefs in this episode trying out different ingredients to make a unique type of Taiyaki..
The 1st part can be found here..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeZARwFHrtM
It so happened i was eating chicken rice at my computer for dinner.. and so it hit me.. Why not a fusion food for chiken rice? (not taiyaki chicken rice mind you =X ).. the fusion i was thinking was more towards sushi.. in that sense, chicken rice and sushi does have a bit of similarity.. in which they both have a unique flavoured rice, together complementing whatever filling/meat that is with it..
The only problem i can think of at the moment is.. if the seaweed would complement the taste of the chicken rice.. in my mind, the current seaweed i'm thinking of are those crispy seaweed ones sold in those discount stores... probably cuz i have a craving for them right now... =T
*shrug* if i was going to become a chef, this might be one of my most closely guarded secrets.. but by the looks of it.. i guess cooking for a living seems too troublesome for me =P
